The Robertson Panel: the Cia Considers Ufos
Sep 27, 2009 UFOs
1918-1939 is sometimes called “the golden age of aviation” because of technological advancement made in many planes. With World War II came better, quicker airplanes and more experienced pilots . When the war was over, air travel has become firmly established in the world. The sky turned the roads of the future. People started to look up in curiosity. What they saw in the sky was sometimes banal, but sometimes surprising. The ufo age had begun. The early 1950s saw a surge of civilian ufo reports. So serious was the problem now, that the rights of normal intelligence in the CIA have been seriously affected. The authorities feared that if the Soviet Union or another opponent to try to invade the United States, the lines were clogged and the government would be unable to act, so serious had ufo hysteria become. Clearly, something must be done. The CIA responded by forming a committee to investigate the thousands of UFO reports and choose a plot of action. The committee, headed by Howard Percy Robertson has been called the Robertson Panel. Robertson was a renowned physicist, a CIA employee, and a director of the Armament Department of Defense Assessment Group. He drew upon six friends and colleagues of the scientific importance of completing the dashboard. Some of the most well-known scientists on board were Luis Alvarez, who won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1968, and Samuel A. Goudsmit, who was a chief of a division of the Manhattan Project and jointly proposed the theory of electron spin. Other members were Frederick C. Durant, missile expert; Thornton Page, astrophysicist, and Lloyd Berkner, physicist, and Allen Hynek, astronomer. From the outset, the panel was biased against the thought of UFOs. In their first briefing, Robertson clarified that their goal was to “debunk” UFOs. At least one committee member, Thornton Page, was reprimanded for his “excessive levity.” There was also some criticism that, while scientists on the panel are leaders in their respective fields, these scientists in space Outer. No scientists were consulted who have expertise in atmospheric conditions, which is where UFOs are seen. The panel met in secret for four consecutive days. Meanwhile, they saw two movies Amateur: The 1950 Montana and Utah from 1952 UFO Films, which had already undergone 1000 hours the man detailed analysis by Navy officers who had concluded that the objects represented Not every known aircraft, creature or weather phenomenon. Air Force Captain Edward J. Ruppelt and Major Dewey J. Fournet then addressed the panel, summarizing the work they had been involved in cases of UFO over the years. Ultimately, the committee has spent twelve hours in study reports and investigations that Project Blue Book and other committees had spent years investigating. They quickly found “explanations” for reports. When there was no answer to find, they swept the case under the table. The Robertson Panel wasted no time in formulating their official report. They concluded that 90% of UFO sightings could be easily identified meteorological phenomenon, astronomical, or natural, and the remaining 10% could be clarified by a detailed study. They further stated that the study would be a waste of time. Their final recommendation stated that “the national security agencies take immediate steps to strip the Unidentified Flying Objects of the special status was given and the aura of mystery they have unfortunately bought .” Based on their recommendations, a public relations committee was assembled to reduce public interest in UFOs. Believers subscribing to such notions were painted as foolish and irrational. This effort drew upon the resources of renowned scientists as well as celebrities and mass media. Even the influential Disney Corporation was involved in the debunking effort. From this point before the UFO was seen in disrepute learned circles, and UFOs have become a subject of fringe communities. Finally, thanks to the suggestions of the committee, groups studying UFOs were monitored by government agents and spies to prevent them from influencing the thinking of masses. Until 1976, a CIA memorandum has been found telling of how the agency had yet to report on the activities of UFO groups. In the years following the Robertson Panel at least two members expressed their disappointment of his work. Because the panel’s conclusions, the attention necessary to buy data to determine the nature of the UFO phenomenon has not been given to this subject. Thornton Page and J. Allen Hynek once lamented that the subject had not been treated with more severity. While Page expressed passing interest, Hynek became a respected voice in scientific ufology. There is no doubt that the Robertson Panel opened the era of coverage by the government up on the UFO phenomenon. Yet, stripped of credibility and respect, there are still those who insist on sharing their experiences. For whatever the cost, there are still those who look to the sky with curiosity.

Ufo’s: Fact or Fiction?
Sep 7, 2009 UFOs
There is an ongoing debate whether or not unidentified flying objects, more commonly known as ufos, are real. One thing can not be argued about though, is that there are thousands of Arizona who claimed to have seen a ufo in Arizona. Thousands more around the world have also reported having experienced the same or similar with a ufo and have videos to prove it. Many people will remember the event which took place in July 1947 where an observation occurred. It happened during a severe thunderstorm near Roswell, New Mexico, in an experiment the air force using high altitude balloons. The experiments caused the ball to fall to the earth that led to the belief of many that this was not an experience that has gone terribly incorrect. Many believed that was the result of extraterrestrial activity. Talk about mass confusion! The whole world seems to have been sitting on the edge of their seats when they heard the news that the Air Force had a flying saucer in their possession. Shortly after, the news channels announced that the Air Force does not have a UFO in their possession but did nothing more than weather balloons. People were skeptical, but as many still believed that there was more to the tale than what they are told. Many thought they had lied to government officials and that this case was a cover up. Many believers passionate unidentified flying object strongly believe that this day in 1947, a truly alien spaceship crashed on Earth. Many people in Arizona have had the chance to see the well-known Northern Phoenix. If you have never read the history of Phoenix before dawn, it’s really something that makes you wonder if UFOs really exist. Even if you are the most skeptical person when it comes to an Arizona UFO, or anywhere else for that matter, you might just have a different opinion when you read this major event which took place on 13 March 1997 when thousands of people witnessed what was believed to be a UFO sighting in Arizona. There are real sequences UFO sighting that makes even the most skeptical believer. There are countless tales of people who are so sure of seeing a UFO. There are others who reckon that these people must be either mad or simply make the tale up just to get some attention. Fact or just someone pretending? Some of these believers are skeptics when it comes to UFOs. Who is ahead, they also had experience of real life. Many people are no longer cynical following their experience has convinced them otherwise. Some people prefer to keep their experience under a secret for dread of being ridiculous. Some dread more severe reactions by family and friends who feel that it would be better if we kept on experience with a flying object unidentified themselves. Whether you’re a believer in UFOs or not, there are still many unanswered questions which may make the issue not believing themselves. Many people who have experienced a UFO sighting have been so frightened that they said very few people. They may feel so haunted by the experience they have had to seek professional advice because of the psychological effects it had on their lives. The association between aliens and unidentified flying objects seem to go together. There are many reports where it is claimed categorically that they not only have seen one, but they also say have been abducted by aliens and returned to earth. May crazy as it sounds, these are right tales that many people believe. UFO sightings have occurred throughout the State of Arizona in cities such as Tempe, Mesa, Gold Canyon, Superior, Tucson, Flagstaff, Phoenix and Scottsdale. Many other cities in Arizona have all had similar tales with other parts of the world. Again, these observations are not specific to Arizona. Nearly every state and in several other countries share these similar experiences. The tales are so simple to find observations when referencing these objects. There was a tale in California where a man has noticed what appears to be a saucer while sweeping her patio. The man said he saw a bright light he had never seen before. He was convinced that it was a UFO. The bright light was no ordinary light as it was directed toward him. He was sure it had been a UFO. If you believe in these comments or not, there seems to be enough ongoing debate to keep the concept alive.
